CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The Greencastle girls' golf team traveled north to Crawfordsville to face the Athenians and Northview Thursday. Crawfordsville won with 188, while GHS was one point back at 189. Northview was third with 205.

Chelsea Samuels earned medalist honors with a 40, followed by Katie Hedge's 46 and Diane Wokoun's 49. Kay Wood added a 54, with McKenzie St. Marie scoring 62, Liz Johnson a 69 and Tristan French with a 68.

"It was a close, exciting match," GHS head coach Brad Kingma said. "We were up by one after the first four scores came in, but Crawfordsville's fifth player bettered their worst score by two to get the win. We hadn't broke 200 in two weeks, so this was much needed for our confidence going into conference.

"This was Chelsea's best score of the season. I think she was putting pressure on herself to shoot low scores like this each time out, so hopefully she can feel like she can just go at it," he added.
