Cougars win big over Mustangs

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam Middle School Cougars battled the Fountain Central Mustangs on Tuesday night and came away with two wins. Both games were high scoring affairs, with 130 points being scored on the night.

The Cougar seventh grade improved their record to 4-3 with a 48-20 win. The Cougar offense was led by quarterback Bradley Hodges, wide receiver Jimmy Rutter and wing back Anthony Cooke. Coach Gray gave a special shout out to the offensive line for their best work of the year.

Anthony Cooke also contributed on defense with an interception return for a touchdown. Additional defensive standout's were Trevor Bingman, William Lathrop and Levi Purdue. On special teams Anthony Cooke was explosive with several big returns capping off his evening with an 81-yard kick off return for a touchdown.

The Cougar eighth grade improved to 4-2 in another high scoring affair 34-28. The Cougars were led on offense by quarterback Cole Dean, and ace back Jacob Riggen, who rushed for over 100 yards, many with defenders draped all over him.

The Cougar defense was led Daniel Allee, Jacob Riggen, and Cody Smith. Jacob Riggen had a 65-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown that was aided by a big block by Cody Smith.

The Cougar special teams were led by a 79-yard kick off return by Aaron Wesley.

The Middle School Cougars are in action next Tuesday at home against Turkey Run.
