Haley Bain memorial added to SP's Memory Garden
GREENCASTLE -- Gary Goss and his wife donated an expensive addition to the South Putnam Memory Garden this fall.
The Gosses and their Boulder Designs business donated a large boulder that has been placed in the center of the Memory Garden. Although the Memory Garden exists as a memorial to all South Putnam students who have passed away, the Gosses wanted their gift to reflect their feelings for South Putnam Assistant Principal Dan Bain, who lost his daughter Haley on graduation day last spring. Haley would have been a member of this year's sophomore class at South Putnam.
The Goss's donation was a great addition to the Memory Garden, which has been in place for 18 years. Over the years, many people have spent time making improvements on the Memory Garden. After the Gosses donated the boulder, South Putnam staff, led by superintendent Bruce Bernhardt, transportation director Chuck Shafer and bus driver Kim Franklin, transformed the garden to its current state with a picket fence, beautiful fall flowers and decorative rock.
