Eagles take two from North Putnam

The North Putnam Middle School football teams played South Putnam Thursday with the Eagles coming away with two victories on the night.

The seventh grade contest was a hard fought game that went down to the wire with the Eagles prevailing 12-8.

North Putnam was lead on offense by Jimmy Rutter, Trevor Bingman and Anthony Austin. Defensive leaders for the cougars were Jacob Wiant and Blake Everts. The loss dropped the seventh grade cougars to 5-4 on the year.

The Cougar eighth grade team played shorthanded in their loss against the Eagles. The Eagles took advantage of the shorthanded Cougars for a 40-0 win.

Leaders on offense for the eighth grade Cougars were Jacob Riggen and Tucker Lowe. Defensively, the Cougars were led by Daniel Allee, Cody Smith and Jacob Riggen. The loss dropped the team to 4-4 on the season.

Both Cougar squads are in action next Thursday at Monrovia.
