Saturday, October 9, 2010

SPENCER -- Cloverdale's trip to Owen Valley Friday night proved unsuccessful as the Patriots defeated the Clovers 20-8.

Cloverdale came close to opening the scoring late in the first quarter but Jordan Brinkman's second down sneak was deemed short of the end zone. On the next play, the snap was fumbled and Owen Valley recovered.

The hosts would score first on a 13 yard touchdown run by Dylen Hutcherson midway through the second quarter. The half ended with the score 6-0 in favor of the Patriots.

Cloverdale took the opening drive of the second half in for a score on three plays, all runs by Donovan Scisney. Scisney scored on a 37 yard run and added the two-point conversion himself to give the Clovers a 8-6 lead.

Owen Valley would take the lead in the same quarter with a 3 yard touchdown run by Caleb Jones on fourth and goal. The Patriots closed the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 4 yard run by Evan White.

The Clovers will end the regular season next week, traveling to North Putnam next Friday.
