Dream catcher workshop planned at museum

At noon on Nov. 13, the Putnam County Museum will hold a dream catcher workshop for children. The museum will provide all the necessary supplies. The cost of this crafts workshop is $10. Please RSVP by Friday, Nov. 5.

According to the legend, a dream catcher keeps the good dreams and wards off bad dreams at night. Native Americans of the Great Plains believe that the night air is filled with both good and bad dreams. The dream catcher, hung above the bed, lets good dreams pass through the center hole to the sleeping person and traps bad dreams in the web. The bad dreams perish with the first ray of daylight. Traditionally, dream catchers were hung in the tipi or lodge and on a baby's cradle board.
