Woodwind quintet has Monday recital

Saturday, November 6, 2010

GREENCASTLE -- The DePauw University Faculty Woodwind Quintet will perform its first recital of the year on Monday in the Green Center for the Performing Arts, Thompson Recital Hall.

The program, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.

DePauw School of Music faculty members Anne Reynolds (flute), Leonid Sirotkin (oboe), Randy Salman (clarinet), Kara Stolle (bassoon) and Robert Danforth (horn) will perform "The Hindemith Wind Quintet" from 1922. This boisterous work is considered to be one of the finest quintets written.

DePauw faculty pianist Katya Kramer-Lapin will join Reynolds, Sirotkin, Salman, and Stolle for a performance of Andre Caplet's "Quintet for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon and Piano," an exceptional contribution to the repertoire of piano/wind quintets.
