Monday, November 8, 2010

GREENCASTLE -- It is time again for Greencastle local businesses to break out the tinsel, lights and ornaments and get creative for the holidays.

The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce is now accepting entries for the 2010 Spirit of Christmas Award.

Since 1984 the award has been presented to the local business whose holiday window decorations have best captured the "Spirit of Christmas." The winner in 2009 was Almost Home. The 2010 winner will be announced and presented with the traveling plaque at the Civic League's 2010 Lights of Love Ceremony on Dec. 7 at City Hall.

Competing businesses must have their entry forms in no later than 4 p.m. on Nov. 29.

To be eligible for judging, entries may be made by sending the entry form to the Chamber of Commerce at 16 S. Jackson St. or faxing it to 765-848-1015.

Businesses will be judged on the following criteria: Spirit of Christmas, Originality, Appropriateness for the Business, Continuity of Theme and Preparation and Effort.

The contest is open to any business in the Greencastle area. Businesses do not have to be members of the Chamber of Commerce or located downtown to enter.

If you have any questions please call Tammy Amor at the Chamber office at 653-4517.
