William Harvey Aker Jr., 82, Reelsville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at Exceptional Living Center in Brazil.

Born Oct. 4,1928 in Putnam County, he was the son of William Harvey Aker and Gertrude Aker.

After graduating Reelsville High School he entered the Army during World War II. William married Marilyn (Jones) on Oct. 8, 1949.

In his younger days he was an avid hunter and had many dogs. He worked for Wabash Valley Asphalt in Terre Haute. In his later life he loved visiting with his kids, grandchildren and especially loved playing with his great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marilyn Aker, who passed away on Dec. 1, 1999.

He is survived by two brothers, Richard Aker of Texas and Jack Aker and wife Yuriko of Logansport; two sisters, Betty McCullough of Reelsville and Martha Jane McPherson of Reelsville; his daughter Sherry Fox and husband Jim of Brazil; and son Bill Aker and wife Shelly of Carbon. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Carl Aker and wife Jennifer, Jeff Aker, Sheena Stout, Jeff Fox, and Missy Fox; five great-grandchildren: Shaylee Aker, Adrien Aker, Braxton Okulovich, Tylee Ann Okulovich and Christian Stout, all of Brazil. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. next Sunday at Reelsville United Methodist Church. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home and Crematory was entrusted with arrangements.
