Church hosts community outreach Thanksgiving Dinner

Greencastle Christian Church will host a community Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25.

Dinner will be served at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Transportation will be provided if needed. Box dinners will also be available to be picked up at the church or delivered to shut-ins.

Anyone who wishes to participate should call 653-5816.

Putnam County Giving Tree applications distributed

Applications for this year's Putnam County Giving Tree program are now being distributed at local public schools.

Families will be able to pick up gifts from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the University Service Center, located at the corner of Hill and Jackson streets on the DePauw University campus.

Holiday Lights of Love Ceremony planned for Dec. 7

The 27th annual Holiday Lights of Love Ceremony will take place Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at Greencastle City Hall.

The event is sponsored by the Greencastle Civic League. Canned food donations to help local food pantries will be accepted.

Other activities will include the presentation of the Spirit of Christmas Award by representatives from the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce and the presentation of coloring and essay contests.

The TZ After School Enrichment Choir will provide entertainment.

Toys for Tots has dropoff locations

Dropoff locations for this year's Toys for Tots program can drop off gently used and new toys and books at the following locations: Ivy Tech Greencastle, Therese Cunningham Insurance, Family Video Greencastle, Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, Wilson's Photography, Right On Motorsports and Putnam County Hospital.

Monetary donations are also accepted. If you have any questions about the program or would like to volunteer, make a donation, or are interested in participating, please contact the Senior Center at 653-8606.
