Book fair starts Friday

The Friends of the Putnam County Library is holding its 2010 Holiday Book Sale Friday through Dec. 4.

The sale will take place in the lobby of the library. All sorts of new and gently used books will on sale at special holiday prices.

Cookbooks, mysteries, history, romance, biographies, novels, and coffee table books will be available. New titles will be added daily.

The sale will be held during the library's regular hours: Monday and Friday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Vendors sought for craft fair

Vendors are needed for an arts and crafts fair at the Cloverdale American Legion Post 281. The fair will begin at 8 a.m. Dec. 4.

Church hosts community outreach Thanksgiving Dinner

Greencastle Christian Church will host a community Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner on Thanksgiving Day.

Dinner will be served at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Transportation will be provided if needed. Box dinners will also be available to be picked up at the church or delivered to shut-ins.

Putnam County Giving Tree applications distributed

Applications for this year's Putnam County Giving Tree program are now being distributed at local public schools.

Families will be able to pick up gifts from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the University Service Center, located at the corner of Hill and Jackson streets on the DePauw University campus.
