Cloverdale wrestling places seventh at Ben Davis Super 16

AVON -- The Cloverdale wrestling team placed seventh out of 16 team at the Ben Davis Super 16 last Thursday. The Clovers had one individual champion as well as one second place finisher.

At 145, Donnie Helterbrand placed first after pinning Pedro Mendez of Washington IPS and then winning a close decision over Brown County's Quincy Richey 8-6.

For its second place finish, Matt Hall began the championship round with a 8-7 decision over Ben Davis's Kyle English. He then lost to Aaron Haire in the first place match 7-3.

Also placing for Cloverdale were Nich Schwomeyer (11th), Shawn Shipp (3rd), Jeremy Boldman (4th), Kyle Manion (12th), Chris Routh (12th), Tyde Frederick (6th), Michael Gramer (7th), Cody Stout (8th), Kurt Davis (10th) and Braxton Sinclair (7th).

Cloverdale will be back in action Saturday at South Vermillion.
