Tommie Jean Swilling

Mrs. Tommie Jean Swilling, 85, Greencastle, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at Autumn Glen Assisted living center.

Born Oct. 4, 1925 in Elbert, Tex., she was the daughter of Joseph C. & Ina (Mitchell) Hargrove. She married William Ward Swilling on Aug. 12, 1944 and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1981.

She had been a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church having served as a former deaconess and involved with the Bible study group. She was also a member of the Home Extensions and Needlers Clubs.

Survivors include her son, William R. Swilling and wife Dee of Newburyport, Mass.; daughters, June Woodall and husband Lee of Greencastle and Barbara Longanecker and husband Mark of Puyallup, Wa.; brothers, Cecil Hargrove of Tex. and Vernon Hargrove and wife, DeeLee of Ohio; a sister, Oleta Scruggs of Tex.; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy McNeely officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
