TERRE HAUTE -- The Indiana Arts Commission and its regional arts partner Arts Illiana will soon begin accepting online applications for Regional Initiative Grants. Grant guidelines are currently posted on artsilliana.org and the Indiana Arts Commission.

The grant funds are available to 501 (c) (3) arts organizations or arts providers for the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. Community-based arts organizations and program providers interested in applying for the arts operating support (I or II) grants, arts project support grants or mini grants will apply through the Arts Commission's online grant application system.

Eligible organizations in Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo Counties may apply.

Arts Illiana will be holding grant information workshops for arts organizations and arts providers in January and February to assist applicants in the new online grant system. The workshops are offered free, but call Arts Illiana at 812-235-5007 or e-mail sherri@artsilliana.org to register.

While the online grant application process is statewide, Arts Illiana will continue to administer the program, including the paneling of the applications. Letters of intent are due to Arts Illiana by Feb. 28. The online applications are due by 5 p.m. on March 28. The applications will be reviewed on April 28.

All potential applicants must attend one of the sessions scheduled. Grant guidelines will be discussed and session attendees will have the opportunity to go through the online application process. One workshop is slated to take place at the Putnam County Public Library from 5-7 p.m. on Jan. 25.
