Cougar swimmers have strong showing

VEEDERSBURG -- The North Putnam boys swim team competed against Fountain Central and Tri-West. The Cougars defeated Fountain Central 85-72 and lost to Tri-West 94-71.

Dane Gray picked up two individual wins for North Putnam on the night. He won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.39 and the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.40. The Cougars also had one relay team snag a win. The 200-yard medley relay team of Colton Smith, Jared James, Jeremy Ban and Gray won in a time of 1:56.78.

The relay team also combined up to place second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:38.67. The time was good enough to set a new school mark.

The Cougars will be back in action Tuesday when they host South Putnam and Tri-West at 5:30 p.m.
