Dennis Shepard

Dennis L. Shepard, 57, Roachdale, passed away on Feb. 25, 2011. He was born on April 26, 1953 in Ohio to Gene and Ruth Shepard.

Dennis served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1978. His experience in the Navy started his career in truck driving. He attained master truck driver status with the IMTA. Dennis was previously employed at Wal-Mart Transportation, where he received safety awards for 500,000, 1,000,000 and 1,500,000 milestones. Most recently he was a custodian at North Putnam Middle School.

Surviving are his wife of three years, Melisa J. Shepard; children, Kelly Shepard of Indianapolis, and Stacy Shepard of Terre Haute; step-children Amanda Query of Greencastle and Justin Buchanan of Roachdale; and a sister, Debbie Gibbons of Hillsdale.

His parents preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, with Pastor David Neeley officiating. Interment with honors will follow at Roachdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 8 p.p. at the funeral home.
