E. Carlee Evans, 92, Brazil, died Saturday, March 19, 2011at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born Oct. 6, 1918 in Harmony, the daughter of Altha and Pearl May (Stevens) Modesitt.

Carlee graduated from Royal Beauty Academy in Indianapolis. She worked for a brief time in Indianapolis, as a beauty operator. Following the passing of her husband Richard Evans, she moved to Brazil to be closer to her family.

Carlee had been employed by P. R. Mallory in Greencastle until retiring in the early 1980s. Carlee was added to the Church of Christ on July 30, 1944.

Carlee enjoyed sewing and fishing, as well as spending time with her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family.

She is survived by sister Betty Barnett as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many extended family members as well as many brothers and sisters in Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard L. Evans; four sisters, Audrie Porter, Violet Langdon, Lee Opal Selby and Hazel Loughmiller; and three brothers, William Archie Modesitt, Harry Modesitt, and Robert Lloyd Modesitt (in infancy).

Funeral services will be held at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
