Indiana State Police

Indiana State Police Trooper Shaun Rawlins responded to a an accident involving a bicycle and a semi-tractor trailer Wednesday morning on State Road 67 at Mooresville Road in Hendricks County.

The 5:22 a.m. accident resulted in injuries to Brad Cook, 18, Camby, a Mooresville High School senior.

Preliminary investigation revealed Cook was riding a bicycle westbound on Mooresville Road and failed to yield to a semi-tractor trailer southbound on 67. The bicyclist was struck by the front of the 2007 Peterbuilt semi driven by Terry Reid, 45, Coatesville.

Cook was transported to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis by Plainfield EMS. He is reportedly in stable condition with a broken leg, head and internal injuries. Reid was not injured.

Rawlins, a trooper from the Indianapolis District, reported that Cook's right eye had damage from a previous incident and he may have been listening to an iPod. These conditions may have contributed to Cook not seeing and or hearing the semi.
