Cloverdale FFA livestock judging teams win big

CLOVERDALE -- The hard work and dedication of the Cloverdale FFA livestock judging teams paid off recently while participating in a contest at Lakeland Junior College in Mattoon, Ill.

The Cloverdale teams were awarded numerous team and individual awards at the competition.

Individual accomplishments include:

Jacob Roach -- First place junior overall, first place junior in beef and eighth place junior in swine.

Tyler Lotz -- First place junior in swine.

Cameron Mann -- First place senior in swine, sixth place senior overall, and ninth place senior in reasons.

Collin Pennington -- Fifth place junior overall, sixth place junior in swine, and eighth place junior in sheep.

The Cloverdale Junior Team of Mariah Huge, Tyler Lotz, Pennington and Jacob Roach were first overall, first in beef, first in swine and fourth in sheep.

Additional awards earned by the Cloverdale FFA livestock judging teams this year include: First Junior Team and First Senior Team at the Rensselaer Livestock Judging Invitational in February.

Team members are: Huge, Lotz, Cameron Mann, RT Mann, Bridgett McFerron, Samantha McHugh, Pennington, Jacob Roach, Beth Slicer and Shelby Winsted.

All team members will be competing at the Area Livestock Judging Contest in April with hopes of moving on to the state contest in May.

The Cloverdale livestock judging teams are co-coached by CHS ag teacher/ FFA adviser Tiffany Douglass and Jenna M. Smith, Extension educator for Clay and Owen counties.
