Patricia Myers Gathers

Patricia Myers Gathers, 72, McKean, Pa., died Friday, April 8, 2011 at her home. She was born in Indianapolis on April 5, 1939, the daughter of the late Paul and Iris Hinshaw Myers.

Patricia received her early musical training from Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music in Indianapolis. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in 1961 from DePauw University and did graduate studies and further cello studies with Bernard Greenhouse at Indiana University, Bloomington. Pat received her Masters of Science in Education from State University College at Fredonia, N.Y.

Patricia was a former music instructor at Saint Benedict Academy and director of the Chorale and Ensemble. She was also a former member of the faculty of Edinboro State University, and a private teacher of piano and cello.

Pat was also a cellist with the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra, Erie Chamber Orchestra, the Greenville Symphony and the Romanenko Chamber Players. She was a member of the Edinboro Trio and the former music director at the Edinboro United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 15 years, Glen E. Gathers; two daughters, Teresa Sublette Nelson and husband Jim and Elizabeth Sublette; her son Bill Sublette; three stepsons, Kevin Gathers, Mark Gathers and Steven Gathers and wife Michele; stepdaughter Janet Gathers; one sister, Martha Boruff; two grandchildren James and Olivia Nelson; two step-grandchildren, Jarrod and Kyle Gathers, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service took place Monday at the Edinboro United Methodist Church, Edinboro, Pa., with the Rev. Lisa Grant officiating.

The Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro, was entrusted with the care of funeral arrangements.
