Indiana Congressman Bucshon announces art competition

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Congressman Larry Bucshon (IN-08) has announced the 2011 Congressional Art Competition is underway and open to talented high school students from Indiana's Eighth Congressional District.

This competition allows each congressional district to submit one piece of artwork for display in the U.S. Capitol for the duration of one year. Visitors from all over the world will be able to view artwork from high school artists from around the country. The individual with the winning piece of art will receive two free roundtrip tickets to Washington, DC, tours of the Capitol and the White House, attend a Congressional awards ceremony, and a meeting with Congressman Bucshon.

This contest is open to all 9th-12th graders. Students should have their entries submitted to the Congressman's office by April 30, 2011. On May 1, all submissions will be posted online in a photo album on Facebook. Judging will be a hybrid of an expert panel and fan voting through Facebook. You must become a Fan of Congressman Larry Bucshon on Facebook in order to vote. In addition, the second and third place submissions will hang in my district offices in Evansville and Terre Haute.
