To the Editor:

Peace Lutheran School held a benefit dinner and auction on April 2 to support a new computer lab and upgrades to our Community Fitness Trail located behind the school. We had a wonderful evening of fun and fellowship shared by members of Peace Lutheran School and Church along with many members of the community.

For the start of the evening there were numerous items up for bid at our silent auction. We had sponsors from Michigan to Kentucky and all of Central Indiana. A very delicious buffet meal was served by the catering service of Dixie Chopper with scrumptious desserts donated by local business and individuals all around town.

Throughout the night there was a video of the highlights of the school year projected on the screen in the stage area. It was able to showcase just how great Peace Lutheran missions to the children and how caring and wonderful the staff of Peace Lutheran shines in our school.

Miss America 2009 Katie Stam was our guest speaker for the evening. She was crowned the first Miss America from the state of Indiana in the pageant's 88-year history. She described her background growing up in a rural area and attending a Lutheran School which provided her with the faith and foundation she needed for her goals in her journey to the crown.

Following Katie, we continued with Matt Schrieber from Matt Lewis presentations. He is a local chalk artist right here in Putnam County. He performed a very moving and inspirational presentation with chalk art and donated his print as a live auction item in the next portion or our program.

The evening was concluded with a live auction ran by Jeff Rich. Jeff provided his services and donated his time to make this a very exciting and fun evening for all who attended. With Jeff's help, we were able to exceed our goal and raise $17,122 for Peace Lutheran School.

God has truly blessed each of us, our school, the students, parents, staff and friends of Peace Lutheran School.

We would like to thank everyone involved in our event -- those who donate time and talents, those who worked to bring it all together, those who attended and support our auction and those who prayed for us.
