Sustainable Greencastle Awards taking nominations

Sustainable Greencastle Awards nominations are invited to recognize those individuals, organizations and businesses making significant contributions to the greening of our community. Nominees should meet one or more of the following award criteria.

Originality/Innovation -- Please explain how the nominees present a visionary approach or innovative concept to address local needs.

Transferability -- Please illustrate how the nominees' efforts have potential application for others and how application of the nominees' process and methodology would further community sustainability.

Comprehensiveness -- Please identify to what extent the nominees include elements important to the local community.

Public Participation/Collaboration -- Please explain the level of public participation in the nominees' efforts. Did the nominees demonstrate a strong effort to solicit input from those who historically have been left out?

Effectiveness/Support -- Please state how the nominees addressed the need or problem that prompted the project/initiative/effort. Be explicit about how the results have made a difference in the lives of the people affected.

Overall, nominations should emphasize how the individual or entity has contributed to the greening of our community in the last year.

Nominations are encouraged from the public for the following award categories:

Green Organization of the Year

Green Business of the Year

Green Youth Citizen of the Year (K-12)

Green Citizen of the Year

Green Lifetime Achievement Award

All nominees will be reviewed by the Greencastle Commission on Sustainability. Greencastle Commission on Sustainability members are ineligible to receive these awards. Questions may be directed to Commissioner Missy! Orr at 812-801-1795 or missy.orr@gmail.com.

Nominations must be received at sustainablegreencastle@gmail.com or City Hall, 1 North Locust Street, Greencastle, IN 46135 by April 29.

The awards will be announced at the Sustainable Greencastle Celebration May 17 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at City Hall.

Sustainable Greencastle is an association connecting people and ideas for environmental solutions to strengthen our community, economy, culture and quality of life.
