City Police

Four minors were cited for illegal consumption of alcohol after the vehicle in which they were riding was stopped early Thursday by City Police officers.

Officer Nick Eastham, who was assisted at the scene by Officer Matt Huffman, stopped the car on Bloomington Street at 1:40 a.m. Thursday.

Being charged with illegal consumption were the following minors:

Mark Fadle, 19, Mayfield Village, Ohio, who registered .076 percent blood-alcohol content under PBT testing.

Margaret Erzinger, 20, Lake Bluff, Ill., who refused blood-alcohol testing.

Ashley Isaac, 20, Toledo, Ohio, who registered .092 percent blood-alcohol content under PBT testing.

Lesley Kennedy, 20, Buffalo, Minn., who registered .09 percent blood-alcohol content under PBT testing.

Officer Huffman investigated another incident early Thursday after spotting a vehicle being driven backward through the Taco Bell parking lot on Indianapolis Road.

After witnessing a passenger in the vehicle toss a glass bottle toward the front door of the restaurant, where it shattered when it landed, Officer Huffman cited Raymond Capps Jr., 23, Greencastle, for littering.

Huffman later determined that the bottle had contained an alcoholic beverage.

One additional arrest was reported Wednesday by the GPD.

Andre Giden, 24, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Darrel Bunten at 2:21 p.m. at 101 Fairview St. on a pair of Putnam County warrants.

Five recent traffic accidents were investigated by city officers.

At 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on the McClure Oil lot, 1148 Bloomington St. Jennifer Parker, 32, Reelsville, was backing a 2002 Ford F-150 from a parking space when it collided with a parked 1995 Ford Mustang, owned by Mary Burnett, Greencastle. Officer Bunten estimated total damage at $1,000-$2,500.

On April 15, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Indianapolis Road, 1,000 feet west of State Road 240, when Amanda Routh, 30, Cloverdale, driving a 1995 GMC Jimmy, did not see that a 2002 Chevrolet truck, driven by Bradley Fidler, 19, Quincy, had stopped in traffic and struck the Fidler vehicle in the rear. Officer Ed Wilson listed total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

On April 14 at 9:57 a.m., a property-damage accident was reported on the lot of First Financial Bank, 101 Warren Drive, when a 2006 Dodge Caravan, driven James O'Brien 64, Greencastle, jumped the curb and hit the bank building as he tried to pull into a parking space. Sgt. Terry Eastham reported that the brakes on the van failed, resulting in an estimated $5,000-$10,000 damage.

On April 13, a 3:30 p.m. mishap occurred as Jared Hutchison, 30, Greencastle, was westbound on Indianapolis Road, driving a 2004 Ford Ranger, when he stopped in traffic for a red light and his truck was struck from behind by a 2005 Ford Ranger, driven by Rodney Nodley, 55, Greencastle. Nodley told Officer Bunten that he was momentarily distracted before the collision occurred. Total damage was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

At 5:49 p.m. April 7, a two-car mishap occurred in front of 1019 Shadowlawn Ave. when a westbound 2007 Pontiac, driven by Criag Hurst, 35, Greencastle, struck a parked 2005 Ford Taurus, owned by Patricia Harmless, Greencastle. Impact pushed the Harmless car into a mailbox and landscaping at the home of Nancy Thomas. Officer Ed Wilson estimated total property damage at $5,000-$10,000.

Two recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

At 11 am. Sunday, Terry Barcus, 62, Cloverdale, was ticketed by Officer Albert Epple for disregarding a stopsign at Percy Julian Drive and Veterans Highway.

At 8:30 p.m. April 15, James Chambers, 29, Veedersburg, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 51 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

Sheriff's Department

* April 16, 1 p.m.: Larry Dickerson, 47, Greencastle, was approaching a curve on northbound SR 243 in a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria when a deer entered his path and he lost control, hitting signs and a guardrail.

Damage $1,001-$2,500.

* April 19, 6:15 a.m.: Brenda S. Smotherman, 51, Coatesville, was eastbound on CR 775E, approaching a curve onto CR 250N in a 2010 Pontiac Vibe. A deer ran in front of her vehicle and she tried to avoid the collision, but lost control on the wet road.

Her vehicle went over an embankment, hitting a tree and a big rock.

Damage $1,001-$2,500.

* April 20, 12:25 p.m.: Curtis A. Deem, 36, Cloverdale, was westbound on Robert Weist Avenue and stopped at the U.S. 231 intersection in a 1994 Dodge Dakota. Deem failed to see the northbound 2004 Chevrolet Malibu of Sheila E. Tanguay, 71, Poland, and drove into her path.

Tanguay complained of back pain and was transported to Putnam County Hospital by Operation Life.

Damage $5,001-$10,000.

Christy Diane Truax, 37, Cloverdale: Failure to appear, April 20, 5:37 p.m.

April 19, 9:03 a.m.: Alarm due to maintenance at 316 Medic Way. Cleared 9:21 a.m.

April 19, 1:50 p.m.: Good intent call at 1597 North CR 275E. Cleared 2:27 p.m.

April 19, 7:13 p.m.: Detector activation at 106 S. Spring St. Cleared 7:25 p.m.

April 20, 11:45 a.m.: Detector activation at 106 S. Spring St. Cleared 11:51 a.m.

April 20, 9:44 p.m.: Alarm due to water leak at 503 S. Jackson St. Cleared 10:02 p.m.
