Cougars win 8-inning thriller over Cloverdale

ROACHDALE -- North Putnam won a thrilling contest against county rival Cloverdale Wednesday, winning the extra-inning affair 9-8.

The two squads traded leads, but the Cougars had a three run lead in the final inning. The Clovers were able to tack on three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game and force it to extra innings.

In the top of the eighth, Cloverdale left two runners stranded on base and the Cougars took advantage in the bottom of the inning. The Cougars loaded the bases and then Brodie Perrine scored on a suicide squeeze to win.

Kyler Badten had two doubles for North Putnam, with Austin Day adding one. For Cloverdale, Josh Burdette had a home run and Shawn Shipp recorded a double.
