Al Unser Sr. to chat with WGRE's RPM2Nite

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Four-time Indianapolis 500 champion Al Unser Sr. will join RPM2Nite hosts Clay Carter and Ryan Myrehn for a live interview this Sunday evening. The show airs from 8 to 9 p.m. Sunday on 91.5 WGRE or online at wgre.org.

Unser won the Indy 500 in 1970, 1971, 1978 and 1987, joining A.J. Foyt as only the second man to accomplish the feat. Rick Mears would join the exclusive club in 1991.

He's also a member of the most successful family in the race's history, his brother Bobby having won the race three times and his son Al Jr. adding two.

Having been around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the month of May for more than 45 years, Unser will share his reflections on the race and its traditions, his victories and current open wheel racing. With May approaching, local racing fans will have the rare chance to hear a local chat with an Indianapolis legend.

Anyone with questions for Unser can send them to Carter and Myrehn at wgresports@depauw.edu.
