'Cheaper by the Dozen' auditions

Saturday, May 7, 2011

Director Lita Sandy will hold two sessions of auditions for the Putnam County Playhouse production of the comedy "Cheaper By the Dozen."

Auditions will be Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. and Monday, May 16 at 7 p.m. Both sessions will be in the Rehearsal Center of the Hazel Day Longden Theatre in Greencastle.

The show will be presented July 14-16 and July 20-23.

The cast includes Mr. and Mrs. Gilbreth and their 11 children with stage ages 17 and under. (The youngest child not onstage is a babe in arms.) Ernestine and Frank, the oldest children narrate the story. Other children include Jackie, Dan, Bill, Fred, Lillian and Martha.

Additional parts include the long-suffering maid, a high school cheerleader, the family doctor and an officious teacher.

Director Sandy says that children's casting will be done by audition and height, not necessarily by age. Those who attend auditions will be asked to read from the script.

"Cheaper By the Dozen" is being sponsored in part by Hammer & Co., Greencastle.
