No more tax breaks for oil companies

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

To The Editor:

Providing tax breaks to oil companies is asinine. Inarguably asinine.

Here's why: Oil companies don't need tax breaks, especially NOT when customers have to pay approximately $4/gallon. They're already making sufficient profits.

Fossil fuels will not last forever. Instead of giving oil companies tax breaks, this country must use the tax revenue from oil companies to further the cause for alternative-energy fuels. For example, the efforts of the employees at Allison in Indianapolis.

Funding alternative energy sources will be the best way for this country to bolster its economy moving forward.
