Charles K. Phillips

Charles K. Phillips, 78, of Rockville and formerly of Fillmore and Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011.

He was born on May 20, 1933 in Putnam County to Carl Phillips and Gladys Terry Phillips and they preceded him in death.

Mr. Phillips was a 1951 graduate of Fillmore High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a 50-year member of Fillmore Christian Church, a member of Quail Unlimited and Odd Fellows McCarty Lodge No. 293.

He retired from IBM in 1987.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Mildred F. "Middy" Phillips; two daughters, Karla Losin and husband Eric, and Charla Phillips; four sisters, Crystal Woods and husband Billy, Coleen Nichols and husband Doyle, Luella Jackson and husband Richard and Beulah Corbin; two granddaughters, Sara Jean Jelinski and husband Dustin, and Emily Rose Losin; brother-in-law Fred Girton and wife Joyce; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will celebrate the life of Charles on Friday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Fillmore Cemetery with Pastor Mike Faust officiating. Military honors will follow. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 until time of services on Friday at the cemetery.

Memorials in Charles' name may be made to Fillmore Christian Church or Fillmore High School Scholarship Fund at the Putnam County Community Foundation.
