Frederick Allen Brennan
Frederick Allen Brennan, 77, of Rockville and formerly of Jamestown, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at his residence at Raccoon Lake.
Fred was born May 29, 1934 in Ladoga to the late Raymond and Thelma (Roberts) Brennan.
Fred attended Ladoga elementary and high school, where he participated in baseball, basketball and track. A highlight of his basketball career was guarding Hallie Bryant when the Ladoga Canners played Crispus Attucks for the first time in 1951.
Fred married Betty Jeffries on June 21, 1952. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary next year.
Fred worked 41 years for Philips Petroleum Company in Clermont. After retiring he worked at Lebanon Park and Turkey Run State Park. Recently, he worked for the INDR at Raccoon Park.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind four children, Steve (Nancy) Brennan of Lexington, Ky., Cheryl Dale of Lebanon, Michael (Jamie) Brennan of Jamestown and Lisa Smith of Lebanon; 12 grandchildren, Adrian Brennan, Kristen (Ben) Forman, Lindsey (Jeremy) Stich, Travis (April) Vance, Christopher Vance, Ryan Dale, Kyle (Hannah) Brennan, Kayla Brennan, Zachary Smith, Tyler Smith, Elijah Smith and Alexi Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, Dakota and Dalton Brennan, Adleigh Stich, Macy and Aiden Vance, Kobi Dale, Cohen and Mason Brennan, Cooper Smith and Hayden Smith.
He was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Dice and son-in-law Charles "Butch" Dale.
Family and friends will gather from 3-8 p.m. Thursday in the Straw-myer and Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.
Chaplain Dave Clayton will officiate the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the mortuary. Mr. Brennan will be laid to rest in the Roachdale Cemetery.
