Restaurants have until Aug. 5 to sign up for Taste of Putnam County event

Friday, July 29, 2011

The second annual Taste of Putnam County is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24 from 4-8 p.m. at the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport on Greencastle's East Side.

Interested restaurants have until Aug. 5 to sign up for the event.

The event will feature samples only from Putnam County restaurants and caterers as well as live music, kids' games, a beer garden and corn hole games.

Cover charge is $5 per person and food and non-alcoholic drink tickets are $1 each.

Entry tickets also enter participants in the drawing for a flat screen television. Buying more tickets increases the chances of winning, and winners do not have to be present.

This year will also feature a new event called the People's Choice Award. Each attendee will have the opportunity to give one vote to the restaurant they believe had the best overall dish at the event.

At the end of the evening, the restaurant with the most votes will be presented with the Traveling Plate award.

Any restaurant, caterer or non-food vendor interested in participating should call 653-4517 or stop by the Chamber of Commerce office, 16 S. Jackson St., Greencastle, to get an application before Aug. 5.

The event is sponsored by the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, Dixie Chopper Business Center, Duke Energy, Big Bounce House Fun Rentals, the Banner Graphic, Greencastle Offset Printing and Graphics, Putnam County Hospital, Crossroads Communications, Bittles and Hurt and Hopkins-Rector Funeral Homes and Bank of America.
