Thursday, August 11, 2011

CLOVERDALE -- Before final ballots can be set in the Nov. 8 municipal election, the Republican Party in Cloverdale will choose a clerk-treasurer candidate at a Saturday, Aug. 13 Town Convention.

Cheryl Galloway filed in late July to oppose incumbent candidate Cathleen Monaco, who has served in the position since July 2010.

The winner will face independent Laurie Monnett in November.

Registration and orientation will be from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Cloverdale American Legion with voting to begin immediately following.

All voters must be registered and participate in orientation before voting can begin.

Four of five council seats will also be on November's ballot. Republican incumbent Larry Fidler, fellow Republican Coweta Patton and independent William David Lyon are vying for two at-large seats. Incumbent Cathy Tipton is running against fellow independent Gary Bennington in Ward 1.

Republican Don Sublett is unopposed for the Ward 2 council seat.
