Cougars open season with win on the pitch

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam girls' soccer team defeated South Vermillion 6-2 Tuesday. The Cougars pulled away in the second half, scoring four goals to get the win.

First half goals from Maggie Pinney and Cayla Kientz had the Cougars tied with South Vermillion. They turned it on in the second half with Pinney scoring two more goals and Kientz scoring a goal and Ali Birchman scoring her first career goal for the Cougars.

Lydia Volland recorded 10 saves in the goal for North Putnam on the night.
