ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam volleyball team defeated Rockville Thursday in three sets, winning 25-20, 30-28 and 25-13.

Kallie Brattain had five aces for the Cougars, with Morgan Robinson and Katie Welch adding six kills each. LeeAnn Davis had 15 digs on the night.

North Putnam head coach Jill Screiber had nothing but good things to say about her squad following its win.

"(I'm) very proud of my girls tonight, they played well," she said. "We gave up a 10 point lead in the second game, but pulled together and beat them. That is something we have not been able to do in the past, but tonight we did.

Katie Welch had a great Match tonight, hitting well and just hustling," Schreiber continued. "Bethany Wiatt played well in the back row, digging many balls and just being in the right spot at the right time, as a sophomore she is improving and gaining confidence with each game. Kallie Brattain came up with some serving aces."

Schreiber said she hopes the team uses the momentum and confidence as they head into the country tournament Saturday. She said the girls are beginning to believe in their abilities.
