Milling Days and Craft Demo Days this weekend at Bridgeton

BRIDGETON -- Milling and Craft Demonstration Days are set for Saturday and Sunday at Bridgeton in Parke County. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Milling Days at the Mill will celebrate the birthday of Oliver Evans, the father of modern milling. Visitors can tour the Bridgeton Mill and see the 200-year-old French burr stones grind corn into cornmeal and grits.

Craft Demonstration Days at the 1878 House and Barn features pioneer and modern crafters at work creating their wares.

Visitors can learn to make handmade items, see woodworkers, carvers, spinners, knitters and other fiber artists, demonstrating and selling handmade items or tour the 1822 Case log cabin.

Bridgeton is located 10 miles south of Rockville, west of State Road 59. For more information, persons may call 548-2136.
