2011 Taste of Putnam County a huge success

To the editor:

Last weekend's Taste of Putnam County was a hit. We had approximately 425 attend the Sept. 24 event at the Dixie Chopper Business Center and it was a great evening, with great food, great music and great fun.

This event takes months of planning, and work, by a committee of dedicated volunteers, but in the end what made the evening so successful were our local restaurants who provided our attendees with so much delicious food. We have so many great dining choices in this community and to have so many of them in one room, at the same time, was amazing.

As earlier mentioned, this event took a lot of planning and a lot of community support. On behalf of the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce I would like to thank the following: First and foremost, our restaurants, Almost Home, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chief's, Final Approach Restaurant and Pub, Humble Pie, Mill Pond Health Campus, Pizza King, Putnam Inn, The Inn at DePauw and Treasures on the Square. We hope that each of them will want to participate again next year. Also we want to thank our musical acts, Blues Side Up, Saturday Shoes and Barbara Ellen. And a big thanks to Greg Hedge for taking care of the sound system for us.

We also couldn't have pulled this event off without our co-sponsor, the Dixie Chopper Business Center. It is the perfect place for this event, and we are so fortunate to have their support. We also want to thank our other event sponsors, the Banner Graphic, Big Bounce House Fun Rentals, Crossroads Communications, Duke Energy, Greencastle Offset Printing and Graphics, Putnam County Hospital, Walmart Distribution, Bank of America Home Loans, Bittles and Hurt/Hopkins-Rector funeral homes, Logical Choice and Teachers Credit Union. Thank you for continuing to support this event and help us make it an annual community event.

Thank you to the Taste of Putnam County committee members and event volunteers who worked very hard before, during and after the event: Jennifer Bedwell, Katie Wallace, Amber Bowers, Josh Richardson, Andrea Kennedy, Scott Herrick, Curt Krominaker, Keith and Melissa Archer, Beau Battin, Beth Flint, Brad Johnson, Bret Hurley, Melanie Welker, Jenny Bradshaw, Michael Clampitt, LT Taylor, Cindy Mattox, DeeDee Black, Laurie Hardwick, Therese Cunningham and the very helpful Res-Care student volunteers. I also want to thank the following local businesses for sponsoring and manning the free kid's games: Bright Futures, Hickory Creek at Sunset, The Waters of Greencastle and First National Bank.

Finally last, but not least, thank you to all who attended. We hope you enjoyed the event, and most of all, we hope you will be looking forward to the 2012 Taste of Putnam County. I am sure it will be scrumptious.

Sincerely,

Tammy Amor
