Roachdale woman charged with having sex with minor

A 34-year-old Roachdale woman was arrested Wednesday on two charges of sexual misconduct with a minor in an incident that allegedly occurred six weeks ago.

Emily Jane Duncan was arrested at 8:30 p.m. for an alleged Aug. 24 interaction with a 15-year-old boy at her home in Roachdale.

Putnam County Sheriff's Investigator Pat McFadden interviewed the victim, a friend of Duncan's daughter, on Aug. 24. This was done after Duncan's daughter reported her mother to North Putnam School Corporation officials upon learning of the act.

In the interview, the victim claimed that the defendant's daughter and friends were in the Duncan home. However, Duncan's daughter was asleep upstairs and the two other friends were on the computer.

According to the victim, Duncan approached him with a suggestive sexual message typed into her cell phone.

Duncan then reportedly told the boy she wanted to discuss something in her bedroom and led him there. The probable cause affidavit states that there she performed oral sex and then consented to intercourse.

The victim's friends also claimed the door to the room was locked.

Duncan's daughter said the message was likely typed on Duncan's iPhone 4, and Duncan also owns a laptop and desktop computer in the home. Duncan's daughter said she is not allowed to view the screen when her mother is on the computer.

In a Sept. 20 police interview at Duncan's home, Duncan claimed she wasn't sure if the door to her room was locked or not. She also said she typed the message but would never have shown it to the victim.

No photographs were taken of the event, she said. Duncan told police she brought the victim into the room to talk to him about his alleged marijuana usage. However, she said she understood how the event could be taken out of context.

The arrest of Duncan marked the second time this week that a Putnam County woman was charged with sexual misconduct involving a minor male or males.

Kristina Renner, 42, Cloverdale, was arrested early Tuesday on several counts relating to alleged sexual misconduct-related incidents involving at least three boys over more than a year's time during 2003 and 2004.
