Joseph "Marvin" Buchanan, 80, Plainfield, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 in IU West Hospital.

He was born June 8, 1931 in Crossnor, N.C., to the late Luther and Alta Buchanan. Marvin was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a vice president at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 1988 after 33 years.

His hobby was woodworking and he also enjoyed riding bicycles with his grandchildren.

His memberships include Plainfield United Methodist Church, Plainfield Masonic Lodge No. 653 of which he was Past Master and King Solomon Past Master Association.

Marvin was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Glenda Epple and Jennie Walker.

Survivors include his wife Alice Buchanan; sons Jeff (Sharie) Buchanan, Brad and girlfriend (Karla Sego) Buchanan; brothers Bennie and Cramer Buchanan; sisters Emma Bailey and Diana Crouch; and grandchildren, Kristina, Bradley Jr., Clarie and Kieran Buchanan.

Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 4-8 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Clayton Cemetery.
