New faces elected for Russellville Town Council

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Russellville will see some new faces on the council following Tuesday's election. Many of the current board members will be returning, but Devon Davis and Cathy Jones will be added to the council.

Davis will now serve as the new Town Clerk following the very close race against former clerk Sally McAfee. Davis, who tallied 43 votes, barely beat out MacAfee, who tallied 40. Davis could not be reached Tuesday evening for comment.

Both Don Reddish, who tallied 61 votes and Norma Jean Gross, who tallied 66, were re-elected as town council members at-large while beating out Betty Joy Need at 24 votes as well as former member Jim Rodgers, who tallied 24. Neither party could be reached for comment .

Cathy Jones will now fill Rodgers' spot on the council and is very excited about the opportunity to serve her community. She already has ideas of what she would like to address while serving on the council.

"I'm very excited and ready to get to work," said Jones. "I want to address the issue of the water as well as getting affordable Internet for the town."
