Tiger Cubs place third in opener

CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The Greencastle girls' swim team battled North Montgomery and Danville Tuesday on the road. GHS finished third with 70 points behind Danville with 145 points and North Montgomery with 108.

In their season opener, the Tiger Cubs had no first place finishes on the night. Their best finish came from Rachel Custis who finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:06.12.

Greencastle had five third place finishes on the night. Custis was third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.05, with Riley Seahorn placing third in diving with a total of 134.50. Rosio Gomez was third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:16.07.

Greencastle had two relays also finish third. The 200-yard medley relay team of Gomez, Custis, Nicolette Peters and Emily Wheeler recorded a time of 2:13.18 and the team of Wheeler, Sarah Beams, Rebecca Moore and Faith Liveoak posted a time of 2:10.26 in the 200-yard freestyle relay for a third place finish.

Greencastle will host Crawfordsville tonight at 6:30 p.m.
