Career Development Events are designed to encourage youth to learn all they can about a specific topic. In entomology they learn to identify insect specimens. They must also complete a quiz on insects. Youth practice the skills of observation, analysis and communication -- skills they will use their entire lives.

Youth also enjoy the fun, teamwork and competition of Career Development judging events. There are more than a dozen different competitions where 4-H'ers may participate in career development events.
