For the second straight year the employees and customers of North Salem State Bank have banded together to make a difference in the community and help those in need during the holiday season.

From Nov. 1 to Dec. 16 the branches of NSSB collected non-perishable food, hygiene products, paper products and monetary donations to help local food pantries.

The Greencastle branch of NSSB collected a variety of canned goods and more than $200 in cash to benefit the food pantry at New Life Baptist Church, located in Greencastle.

NSSB Branch Manager Vicki Lawson believes the NSSB food drive helps to capture what the holiday season is all about.

"It was wonderful to see the thoughtfulness and caring of our staff and customers who contributed to the food drive, not for their own gratification but in order to help those in need," Lawson said. "Several families will benefit from what was collected and that's truly what this season of giving is all about."

The North Salem State Bank has been a locally owned community bank since 1923. NSSB serves the area from branches in Greencastle, North Salem, Danville (2), Waveland and online at www.nssb.cc.
