Charles Carter Hedrick

Charles Carter Hedrick, 73, Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 in his home.

He was born in Spotsylvania County, Va., on Jan. 5, 1938 to Elmer Clay Hedrick and Bessie Carter Hedrick.

The last assignment of his 12 years in the Air Force found him stationed at Hulman Field in Terre Haute. He remained in Terre Haute for 30 years.

In 1998 he retired from Indiana State University, where he served as director of the Learning Skills Center for many years. He spent 10 years in Tucson, Ariz. before returning to the Midwest and settling in Greencastle in 2008.

Survivors include his wife Marsha Hedrick, son Craig Hedrick of Terre Haute, daughter Sarah Jane (Lile) Hedrick and her spouse Adam of Tucson, as well as five grandchildren, Chad, Travis, Taylor and Tavia Hedrick and Carter Clay Lile.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

No immediate service is planned. Charles chose to donate his body to medical research through BioGift. His cremains will be spread on his parents' graves in the summer of 2012.
