North Putnam places second in three-way meet
North Putnam boys' swim and dive team battled the Tri-West Bruins and the South Putnam Eagles on Tuesday at Tri-West. The Cougars defeated the Eagles 115-91 and came up four points shy in losing to the Bruins 119-115.
Individual winners on the night for the Cougars were Dane Gray in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke and Taylor Thornell in the 500 freestyle.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Hunter Logan, Nick Kaufman, Trevor Troyer and Dane Gray also captured first place on the night.
"I am happy with our results tonight," North Putnam head coach Tony Gray said. "We had one of our best swimmers Jared James out tonight at the Lilly Scholarship dinner and half of our team is ill with flu like symptoms".
"Tonight was more about mental toughness and competing than it was about setting fast times," Gray added.
The Cougar boys are back in action next Thursday in the County Championships at South Putnam.
