Advertised Capps service not family's doing

To the Editor:

On Thursday, Feb. 16, a notice was printed in the paper for a memorial service for my Dad, John E. Capps. I want to make it clear to all that neither I, my Mom, my sister or my brother have anything to do with this service.

None of us were contacted by whoever is holding this service.

Please understand, we were planning one in March, because that is when his birthday occurs.

We have been fielding phone calls from people for the past 24 hours! We didn't contact family and friends about this service, because we didn't know about it until I opened the paper last night and read about it. I won't even go into how I felt at that moment.

I find it rude and disrespectful that none of us were contacted or asked about this beforehand.

When we have our service, I will make sure his family knows about it.
