County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 4 p.m. William Glenn Young was held at the jail as a habitual traffic violator.

At 6:20 p.m. Teddy Kennedy, 21, Quincy, was arrested for failure to appear.

* On Thursday, March 1 at 12:04 a.m. David Lee McCarty, 47, Bainbridge, was housed at the jail for domestic battery, intimidation, strangulation and interfering with the reporting of a crime.

At 2:45 a.m. Damon John Miller, 35, Greencastle, was arrested for probation violation.

City Police

One alcohol-related arrest was reported Thursday by Greencastle City Police.

Morgan B. Johns, 21, Hinsdale, Ill., was arrested on North Jackson Street by Officer Eric Vaughan at 2:06 a.m. for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

After registering a .184 blood-alcohol reading on the portable breathalyzer test, Johns was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Two recent citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 3:13 p.m. Wednesday, Bradley Powell Jr., 20, Poland, was cited on Indianapolis Road by Officer Jeff Modlin for driving with a suspended license.

-- At 7:28 p.m. Wednesday, David Herrold, 69, Greencastle, was ticketed on Anderson Street by Officer Vaughan for an expired license plate.

Sheriff's Department

On Thursday, March 1 at 5:45 a.m. Sheila R. Brinkman, 48, Cloverdale, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 2006 Dodge Charger when she hit a deer with the left front bumper and fender.

Damage was listed at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to a pair of runs on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 29.

* At 5:33 p.m. GFD was dispatched to a motorcycle accident at 1095 W. CR 125 South. Cleared 5:49 p.m.

* At 9:08 p.m. personnel responded to a small stove fire at 105 W. Hanna St. Resident had turned on the wrong burner and melted a small, plastic coffee container. The stove was left unattended, causing the fire. Cleared 9:24 p.m.
