GHS girls' track competes at Indoor State Finals

The Greencastle girls' track team competed in the Indoor State Finals at Indiana Wesleyan this past weekend. The Tiger Cubs finished 14th out of 43 scoring teams.

Colleen Weatherford, Emily Gill, Kayla Cash and Alex Stoffregen placed fifth in the 3,200-meter relay with a school indoor record time of 10:17.18. The quad teamed up to post another school indoor record time of 13:25.60 in the distance medley relay.

Also posting top 10 finishes was the team of Kara Birt, Paige Pickens, Carissa Johnson and Olivia Humphreys in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:55.56 in ninth place. Stephanie Penturf placed 10th in the shot put with a distance of 34-4.5.

Cheyenne Fauvergue tied for 18th in the pole vault, with Johnson placing 27th in the long jump with a distance of 15-5.5. Emily Crawley was 29th in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 10.48.

In the shot put, Sydney Smiley was 35th with a distance of 31-1, Jessica Lenihan was 42nd with a distance of 29-5 and Makayla Guyer was 45th with a distance of 27-6.

The top eight finishers in each event received a medal and a certificate.
