Blood drive on tap Tuesday at Ivy Tech

Saturday, March 24, 2012

The Indiana Blood Center will be at Ivy Tech Community College-Greencastle nursing lab on Tuesday, March 27 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to collect blood donations.

Donating blood is safe, simple and takes less than an hour and is a direct benefit to donors because the Blood Center provides them with a mini-physical that checks for anemia, body temperature, pulse and blood pressure.

The Indiana Blood Center provides blood to more than 60 hospitals in Indiana, and the blood supply needs constant replenishment.

Blood drive participants must: Be at least 16 years of age (donors under age 17 must have a signed Indiana Center Parental/Guardian Consent Form); weigh at least 110 pounds; pass a brief mini-physical and medical history review; follow normal eating patterns before donating; and bring a photo I.D.

All donors will have the opportunity to go to www.donorpoint.org to obtain reward points for giving blood and to redeem points for a thank-you gift.
