South Putnam wins TH South Bash

This past weekend the South Putnam Eagles won the Terre Haute South Bash with a perfect 4-0 record.

They opened the tournament on Friday with a 15-0 win over Bedford North Lawrence. Emily Dabkowski led the way with a home run, a double, two RBI and three runs scored. Mattie Varvel and Jenna Jones added home runs as well. Brooke Cundiff was 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Brooke Boetjer pitched four innings, striking out eight and allowing three hits.

The Eagles returned to Terre Haute South for three games on Saturday. They started the day off with a 4-2 win over the host Braves, with Boetjer pitching a complete game. She struck out five and allowed six hits. She was also 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI.

Jones had a double and Dabkowski added two runs scored and one RBI.

Game three featured the matchup that resulted in the Eagles' only loss last season. South Putnam faced off against Roncalli and won 6-3.

Jenny Thompson had a triple and an RBI, while Jones and Boetjer added a score each. Janet Crafton was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

Kaylin Yon pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and striking out two.

In the final game, South Putnam blanked Northview 3-0 for its four tournament game wins.

Dabkowski posted two doubles and one run scored, with Jones adding a double and a run scored. Boetjer chipped in two RBI in the win.

Boetjer pitched a complete game for the Eagles against the Knights. She struck out 10 batters and allowed just one hit.
