County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Friday, April 6 at 10 p.m. Steven Wayne Lewis, 59, Wakefield, Kan., was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

* On Saturday, April 7 at 5:10 p.m. Ashley Rose Land, 19, Coatesville, was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct disturbing the peace.

At 10 p.m. Nathan Crowder, 22, Pittsboro, was booked in for public intoxication and disorderly conduct disturbing the peace.

* On Sunday, April 8 at 1:22 a.m. Tyler Scott Garvin, 29, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail for operating while intoxicated and public intoxication.

At 1:31 a.m. Wesley Eugene Freeland, 27, North Salem, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 3:45 a.m. Danielle Joyce McHugh, 22, Reelsville, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 3:50 a.m. Rian Gregory Byers, 38, Frankfort, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

At 3:55 a.m. Cedric Austin Craig, 26, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail for operating while intoxicated at public intoxication.

At 4:30 a.m. Brandi Kay Polster, 31, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 7:58 p.m. John Ingomar Maynard, 49, Greencastle, was held at the jail for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.

* On Monday, April 9 at 2:52 p.m. Juan Martin Lopez Cuervo, 21, Indianapolis, was charged with probation violation.

At 5:51 p.m. John Branham II, 23, Terre Haute, was booked in for probation violation.

City Police

Four recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 2:23 a.m. Sunday, Britta Lynn Teague, 25, Cloverdale, was arrested by Capt. Charles Inman for public intoxication.

Teague was reportedly found passed out in the driver's seat of her vehicle at Walnut and Vine streets.

Under portable breathalyzer testing (PBT), she reportedly registered .10 percent blood-alcohol content. She was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

-- At 12:51 a.m. Saturday, Hubert Raymond Harp, 79, Cloverdale, was arrested on U.S. 231 South by Reserve Officer Jerett Query for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Harp, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, reportedly registered .12 percent blood-alcohol content under testing.

-- At 12:42 p.m. Friday, Christopher Leathers, 30, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Jeff Modlin.

Facing a trespassing charge, Leathers was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

-- On Thursday, April 5, Robert Edward Southgate, 55, Greencastle, was arrested on a Montgomery County warrant for check deception.

Taken into custody at his 1022 Avenue D residence, Southgate was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Two recent traffic accidents were investigated by city officers.

-- At 2:05 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported at Indianapolis Road and Franklin Street as both Anna Monnett, 30, Greencastle, and Blake A. Johnson, 22, Greencastle, were eastbound on Indianapolis Road.

As Monnett, driving a 2007 Hyundai Entourage, and Johnson, driving a 1995 Ford Taurus, approached the intersection, the traffic signal changed to yellow. Monnett braked to stop but Johnson, police said, thought she would continue through the intersection and he was unable to stop in time to avoid a rear-end collision.

Officer Darrel Bunten estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

Johnson was cited for having no financial responsibility (no insurance).

-- At 5:07 p.m. Friday, a two-vehicle accident was reported at East Washington and Durham streets.

Heather Whitis, 37, Greencastle, was eastbound, driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, when the car was struck from behind by a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by Cheryl Mason, 55, Greencastle.

Mason told Sgt. Chris Jones that glare off the rear of the Whitis car prevented her from seeing any brake lights until it was too late to avoid a collision.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

Whitis was transported via Operation Life ambulance to Hendricks Regional Health.

Mason was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Five additional traffic citations were issued recently by city officers.

-- At 11:20 a.m. Sunday, Brice Robertson, 20, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Ed Wilson for 45 mph in a 30-mph zone at Franklin Street and Paradise Lane.

-- At 11:02 p.m. Saturday, Donna Hurst, 26, Greencastle, was cited by Capt. Inman on North Jackson Street for having a false or fictitious registration and for an fraction of driving with a suspended license.

-- At 12:04 a.m. Friday, Kurt Davis, 19, Cloverdale, was cited by Officer Nick Eastham for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

-- At 11:46 p.m. April 4, Rebecca Gilliam, 26, Poland, was ticketed on Bloomington Street by Officer Eastham for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.
